Mullion, Cornwall
Panic RoomMullion, Cornwall, links several strands of the story without becoming their centre: it is near the house Don Challenor is asked to value, lies on Fran Revell’s route to Wortalleth West, and is where Jane Glasson once worked at a café. These brief references give the place a practical role in the characters’ movements and a quieter connection to Jane’s past.
Setting and Geography
Mullion appears within the coastal landscape of Cornwall. Fran Revell follows Robin Pawley’s car along the Lizard road and through Mullion to Wortalleth West, which stands above Poldhu Cove. The route establishes Mullion as a passage toward the house rather than the destination of Fran’s visit; the striking coastal setting comes into view as she arrives at Wortalleth West.
Property and Investigation
Don Challenor explains that he first met Blake when he went to Cornwall to value Jack Harkness’s house near Mullion for a quick sale. The property is technically Mona Harkness’s, and its disposal forms part of the couple’s divorce settlement. Mullion is thus tied to the practical business that brings Don and Blake together: a valuation prompted by a contested domestic transition.
Jane Glasson’s Connection
Mullion also belongs to Jane Glasson’s earlier life. Andrew Glasson recalls that she worked as a waitress at a café in the town, which had closed before Blake came to the area. The detail is modest, but it places Jane within the local community before her disappearance became the subject of inquiry. Alongside the house and the road to Wortalleth West, the vanished café makes Mullion a place marked by traces of lives and circumstances that have since changed.
